Our Bodies, Our Shelves
A Vagina Monologue for the Post-Roe Era
This show (with facilitated talk-back session afterward) demystifies women’s most dreaded doctor’s appointment—something that many college students avoid until there's a crisis.
Our Bodies, Our Shelves chronicles my experience teaching medical students how to give pelvic exams. With the audience as my students, this provocative, awkward, and light-hearted show opens a conversation about Western medicine, American women, and all the men who have them in their lives.
INHIBITIONIST(!)
Physical Memoir for the Smart, Studious, and Clumsy
As an example of a devised work created by its performer, I explore self-sabotage, its unlikely origins, and the value of finally getting out of your own way. Through open-hearted storytelling, I embody my ongoing war with Gravity by (literally) climbing in and out of the box that I build for myself on stage. I escort my audiences through funny, moving, and relatable stories of growing up, falling down, and getting up again.
"..uplifting, hysterical, and at times, heart wrenching... many tales of broken teeth, black eyes, and how humans, particularly women, put things in our own way." (King's River Life, Fresno CA)
